EU AI Act Enters Into Force
The European Artificial Intelligence Act, the world's first comprehensive AI regulation, came into force today. Aiming to ensure trustworthy AI use, the Act classifies AI systems by risk levels: minimal, specific transparency, high, and unacceptable. It introduces stringent requirements for high-risk systems and bans certain AI applications. The Act also sets rules for general-purpose AI models, with full enforcement starting August 2026. The Commission's AI Office will oversee compliance, supported by advisory bodies.
